About Me

Catching a house gecko in Borneo

So here is not only the boring bit for you to read but also one of the most difficult pages for me to write… However it seems to be a staple of blogs, so here goes!

Professionally I work both with animals and in marketing & graphic design, and whilst I do travel a little for work, most of my travelling is done for pleasure along with my travelling partner – my wife!  My line of work is one which you need to be passionate about and this is something which comes out in my travel style and preferred destinations…  We are both suckers for nature and adventure.

Having been born in Germany on the 6th January 1985, we moved to the UK when I was 7.  I travelled back and forth between the two countries in early life on family holidays, however the dreaded travel bug didn’t bite until the first real holiday my wife and I shared together in India, 2010…  Since then, as we both love our jobs and use our income to finance our holidays we live to work, and work to travel!

My Travel Map:

Travel Map

17 countries and counting!

  • Australia
  • Belgium
  • China
  • Costa Rica
  • Czech Republic
  • England
  • France
  • Germany
  • Iceland
  • India
  • Malaysia (Borneo – both Sabah and Sarawak)
  • Netherlands
  • Nicaragua
  • Singapore
  • Switzerland
  • United States of America
  • Vietnam

I have also been to Turkey and Spain for flight changes, however my rule is; “If you don’t leave the airport, it doesn’t count.”  The more I travel and the more the above list grows, ticking off countries on my list of places I want to see – that very list seems to be getting bigger rather than smaller.  Amongst others it includes Japan, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Brazil, Uganda, New Zealand, Russia, Norway, Finland, Cambodia, Indonesia and many more!

A lot of people enjoy going abroad without any real plans about what they will do whilst out there – however I am very much of the school of thought which says plan as much as you can and leave yourself some time for exploring (however make sure you always give yourself a chance to explore).
